Vioxx Side Effects

Any of the following side effects may occur as a result of taking Vioxx:

  • Flu-like symptoms

  • Yellowing of skin or eyes

  • Skin rash or itching

  • Fatigue or lethargy

  • Swelling or water retention

  • Transient ischemic attacks

  • High blood pressure

  • Gastrointestinal toxicity

  • Renal toxicity or injury

  • Anemia

  • Complications with existing asthma

  • Peripheral edema

Rare Side Effects:

  • Decreased levels of sodium in the blood

  • Dry mouth or throat

  • Ear infection

  • Yellow skin and eyes

Vioxx has also been linked to at least 12 cases of nonbacterial meningitis (an inflammation of the membrane coverings of the brain).
